Poi health: Balance your movements – Balance your body
Make sure you’re balancing the types of moves you’re practicing, to keep your body symmetrical
Only doing certain kinds of moves, or only doing moves in certain directions (like only doing windmill clockwise) will limit your spinning. It also sets you up for injury as it results in strengthening and stretching your body asymmetrically.
The basic solution is: If you practice a move clockwise, also practice it counterclockwise. If you do lots of inward rotation at the shoulders, remember to practice some outward rotation. It will expand your freedom to turn and dance with the poi, and it will also keep your body symmetrical.
