January 2027: I am hosting poi intensives in Pai, northern Thailand, at Dreamscape.
Why Pai?
Pai has become a major world gathering place for flow arts. There are shows, flow jams and fire spinning most nights. Dreamscape is a visionary venue built for flow arts. Some of my favourite poi artists and friends will be in town!
We’ve also arranged a discount for anybody who wants to stay at Pairadise Bungalows, a gorgeous place to stay with spring water swimming ponds!!
Details so far:
- Where: Dreamscape, Pai, northern Thailand
- When: Jan 10-16 and 17-23, 2027
- This is for those who know the fundamentals of poi. If you are not smooth with the fundamentals yet, I will send you a link to my step-by-step course. You can be ready in time!
- Week 1: “The concepts and methods that lead to freedom with poi.” This will include poi flowers, isolations, footwork, rhythm, and musicality
- Week 2: We’ll apply those concepts to increasingly advanced patterns and dance. Week 2 is for those who completed week 1 and those who are already playing with inspin and antispin flower patterns and combinations.
- Cost: $500USD for 1 week, $850USD for two weeks. Deposit is $250 with the balance due by end of 2026.
- Deposit policy: Your $250 deposit holds your spot and comes off your total. It’s non-refundable, but if your plans change before the balance is due (December 31, 2026), you can transfer your spot to a friend or put the deposit toward Leviathan 2027 or a future intensive. If I cancel, everyone gets a full refund.
- Includes: 5-hours of lessons x 6 days (most lessons are led by me, plus lessons by guest artists) plus practice time, daily suggested activities, and an excursion.
- Capacity: Up to 21 participants plus guest artists.
- Example Schedule: 10am-12:30pm and 3pm-5:30pm (last 30 minutes will be practice time with feedback)
- Who? Lessons by me (Nick Woolsey) and special guest artists (so far: Johnny Douglas and Mr. Knots!)
- Does not include food or accommodation. We can help arrange accommodation with a discount at Pairadise. There are also loads of options for all budgets in Pai, from hostel beds for $8/night to luxury accommodation. You can use the usual apps like booking.com, airbnb, and hostelworld to find just what you need!
